My 17 month old has only got six teeth at the front, two bottom, four top and is cutting another at the bottom. However, I have just noticed that there is another tooth way back on the top row. Is there anything to be concerned about?
The tooth coming at the back in the upper jaw is a first baby molar tooth. It is erupting into the mouth at the usual time for this tooth. You will probably see a lot of activity in your child’s mouth over the next six to eight months as the remaining 12 baby teeth come into the mouth at regular intervals.
If you have concerns about your child’s teeth why not arrange for an appointment with your dentist. This is an excellent age for your child to have a dental examination so that future problems are anticipated and avoided.
