Puppet Making, Ceramic Painting, Children's Theatre and Lots More
3rd July 2001 - Vhi Healthcare today (July 3, 2001) announced its sponsorship of the Children’s programme for Kilkenny Arts Festival 10 – 19 August, 2001.
This year’s childrens’ programme is the biggest yet, with a wide-ranging and imaginative series of events offering numerous opportunities for children of all ages to enjoy and use their creative talents and have lots of fun.
As part of the programme Vhi Healthcare are hosting a series of Puppet Making Workshops with artist and teacher Karen Torley for children over 7 in the Vhi Healthcare Kilkenny Business Centre at Purcellsinch on Monday, 13 , Tuesday 14 and Thursday, 16 August. Participants will make rod puppets which are very easy to use and look amazing with only a little bit of tuition in movement technique.
Other workshops include ceramic painting, paper making, percussion workshops and learn to make an instrument. Bookings for all childrens’ events can be made in the Kilkenny Arts Festival box office at (056) 52175.
"This sponsorship is most appropriate for Vhi Healthcare's ‘Its all about Living’ campaign - we want to encourage children to broaden their creativity, join in the fun and have a good time. We hope that this innovative programme will enable both local and visiting children to engage in inspiring and creative events to further develop their talents," said Kathleen Cahill, Public Relations Manager, Vhi Healthcare.
For all the family there are numerous entertaining events not to be missed including puppeteer, Martin Bridle’s "The Emperor’s New Clothes", Hand to Mouth Theatre company presents "Piggery Jokery" and Jim Jackson in "Art Guffaw"– he can’t draw a straight line, he’s a housepainter, who knows nothing about art or colour! The children’s programme also includes literature readings and children’s films.
